NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR AUGUST 30

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL picked up his eighth NeSmith Smith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region win of the season on Saturday night in Week 22 competition in a 29-car field at Magnolia Motor Speedway driving the Century Dedicated, Inc. Trak-Star.  McRee now has 779 points in 13 starts this season and he can still earn full points in three more events.  (MORE)


INFORMATION TO ASSIST THE FAMILY OF PERRY HOLMAN

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – The family of popular Southeastern racing announcer Perry Holman, who passed away on Tuesday, has asked that in lieu of flowers that cash donations be made to help the family with medical expenses occurred during Perry’s illness prior to his death.

Those wishing to make a donation should make checks or money orders payable to Perry’s widow, Jina Holman, and send them to her at 111 South Hawk Drive , Rainbow City , AL   35906 .  Perry Holman was the announcer at the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series sanctioned Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and several special auto racing events throughout the Southeast.

Talladega Short Track officials have announced that they will be in action this Saturday night because they know Perry would want it that way.  The track will present a special tribute to Perry Holman during the evening’s events.


NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 22 PREVIEW

               CARTERSVILLE , GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 22 competition will feature ten races at nine tracks.  There will be six races in the West Region and four races in the East Region.  The Regional Championships are still up for grabs in both Regions.  Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS leads the West Region, and Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL leads the East Region.  (MORE)


 


"The Voiceman" Perry Holman
1949-2010

             The NeSmith Racing family mourns the loss of Perry Holman who passed away today, August 24, 2010.  Known as “The Voiceman,” Holman was the track announcer at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga , AL , Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe , AL , and many special auto racing shows throughout the Southeast for many years.

               Perry Holman was more than a professional colleague in being one of the best announcers in the country, but he was also a true friend to everyone in the auto racing community, and he will be missed by all that knew him and heard his voice over a race track public address system.

               The thoughts and prayers of the NeSmith Racing family of officials, competitors and fans are with the Holman family during this most difficult time.  

                Visitation will Wednesday night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. CST at Collier-Buter Funeral Home - 825 Rainbow Drive in Gadsden, AL.  The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS netted five points on his NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region leading total over the weekend with a pair of victories at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS.  Stokes drove the TJC Mortgage/ Maximum Signs and Graphics Mastersbilt to win number 11 on Friday night and then captured his 12th win on Saturday night.                CARTERSVILLE, GA – Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA driving the Turner Excavating DWB has been declared the winner of the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event on July 31 at Greenville Speedway in Greenville , MS .  The right-rear tire of apparent winner Jason Hiett of Lincoln , AL was found to be chemically enhanced by an independent laboratory.  (MORE)


NeSMITH CHEVROLET WRS WEST REGION DRIVER RANDY BOYD HOSPITALIZED AFTER SUFFERING A HEART ATTACK

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – The 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Whynot Motorsports Park Late Model Champion Randy Boyd of Marion, MS suffered a heart attack on Tuesday and is currently hospitalized in stable condition in a Meridian, MS hospital.  The thoughts and prayers of the NeSmith Racing family are with Randy and his family in wishing him a quick and complete recovery.                CARTERSVILLE , GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series welcomes Marcus Joe Minga Jr. to its racing family.  The namesake of the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS driver Marcus Minga of Shannon , MS was born at 5 p.m. on August 9.  Marcus Jr. passed the post-birth technical inspection by weighing in at six pounds, 12 ounces, and measured in at 19.5 inches long.  (MORE)

               DUBLIN, GA – Ben Faircloth of Swainsboro, GA won the Stars and Stripes 40 for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour on Friday night at 441 Speedway in dominating fashion driving the Faircloth Forrest Products Rayburn.  Faircloth set fast time at 18.131 seconds to earn the pole position, and then led all 40 laps to post the victory in night one of the Firecracker Nationals.  (MORE)


MOUNTAIN RACEWAY PARK NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS RACE A ONE - DAY SHOW

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series officials have announced that the National Touring event at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN on July 10 will be a 50-lap $3,000-to-win one-day show.  The event was originally scheduled to be a $4,000-to-win two-day show, but the series has cut it back to a one-day show for economic reasons.  (MORE)

                MERIDIAN, MS – Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL rode the high line to his first NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring victory of the season on Friday night to open the Coca-Cola Nationals in the Dasani Water 40 at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the Century Dedicated, Inc. Trak-Star.

                McRee led a total of 21 laps in an exciting side-by-side duel with Mike Boland of Cuba, AL in The Strength Center Trak-Star.  Boland made strong challenges for the point on both the inside and outside grooves, and even led one lap, but McRee got to the checkered flag first, while Boland had to settle for second-place.

                Before the field when green on a lap 19 restart, Boland was riding in the second spot with “J-Mac” in third behind the race leader Cliff Williams of Star, MS in the Ware Construction Trak-Star.  Boland got to choose the inside or the outside for the double-file restasrt.  Boland chose the inside, which put McRee on the outside.                CARTERSVILLE, GA – David Breazeale of Kosciusko, MS drove the L&D Trucking Mastersbilt to a second-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL to take over the point lead in the NeSmith Super Dirt Car Series standings after the first two events of the 2010 season.  It was Breazeale’s second straight top five finish.  (MORE)


SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND FOR GM PERFORMANCE CT525 SPEC ENGINES

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – It was a successful weekend of competition for drivers using the new economical all-aluminum GM Performance CT525 Spec Engine in two super late model series against open all-aluminum engines costing three-times more.  In two different events last Friday night and Saturday night, the CT525 powered drivers to one win, two fives, and four top ten finishes.  (MORE)

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – VP Racing Fuels has entered into a three-year agreement with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series to be the Official Fuel and the Rookie of the Year sponsor of the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series through the 2012 racing season.  The VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year will win a $5,000 cash award at the end of the season.  (MORE)
