NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 13 PREVIEW

CARTERSVILLE , GA – Week 13 of the 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will feature nine events in four states this Friday and Saturday night.  The East Region will host five events, and the West Region will host four races.  The Regional point races are beginning to tighten up, as drivers approach the 16 start mark.

The NeSmith Weekly Racing Series East Region competition will begin on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton , AL where point leader Richie Stephens will be looking for his 16th start of the season.  On Saturday night, Stephens is expected at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City , AL , where he will begin netting points, as a driver’s 16 best finishes count towards his Regional point total.

Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL will return for NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region competition on Saturday night after a two-week hiatus.  Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will also be in action for NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region competition in Saturday night, as Adam Martin of Talladega , AL looks to close on Stephens for the point lead.

Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN will host the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series on Saturday night.  The Brownstown Speedway Group Metal Recyclers Late Model Division has become a fan favorite in Central Indiana due to its two and three wide racing in the Ό-mile dirt oval.

Southern Speedway in Hattiesburg , MS will open the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region competition over the weekend on Friday night.  On Saturday night, A1 Raceway in Slidell , LA , Pike County Speedway in McComb , MS , and Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton , AL will be open for West Region competition.

West Region point leader, two-time and defending West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS will take his 90-point lead, and join the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour this weekend on Friday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, and on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS.

Each driver that enters those two events will receive 10 bonus points for each event entered that will be added to their home Region total.  Drivers competing in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region events this weekend will be looking to close in on Keeton for the West Region title.

Looking ahead to Week 14 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series, three tracks will be running double-point events, as they try to catch up from the many rainouts that have occurred during the first 12 weeks of the 2008 season.

East Region tracks Penton Raceway, and Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Fort Payne, AL will offer double points on Friday night, June 27, and Montpelier Motor Speedway in Montpelier , IN will offer double East Region points on Saturday night, June 28.
