CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 12 PREVIEW
CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 12 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet
Weekly Racing Series season will see 12 races at 11 tracks in four
different states. There
will be four races on Friday night and eight races on Saturday night.
East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL will host a
Friday night and Saturday night double–header.
East Alabama Motor Speedway will open NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly
Racing Series Week 12 competition on Friday night with a $600-to-win
race, and then on Saturday night, EAMS presents an $800-to-win race.
Also in action on Friday night with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly
Racing Series Weekly Racing Series Week 12 events will be Hattiesburg
Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, Malden Speedway in Malden, MO,
and Smokey Harris Speedway in Haleburg, AL.
Other Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series
Week 12 races will be held at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN,
Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL,
Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Pike County Speedway in McComb,
MS, Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN, and Whynot Motorsports
Park in Meridian, MS.
Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA leads the battle for the $10,000
2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Championship with
583 points. Trosclair will
be looking for his 13th win of the season in Week 12
competition, and he is the only driver to post a victory in each of
the first 11 weeks of the 2012 season.
Trosclair is also eligible to pick up 25
Bonus Points this weekend with his fourth straight week of competition
to bring him up to the maximum allotment of 100.
Trosclair holds a 16-point lead over Brent Barrett of
Cleveland, MS, who has 567 points.
Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third with 557 points, and
Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is fourth with 545 points.
Chase Washington of Houlka, MS is fifth
in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 533
points, followed by Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS in sixth with 525
points. Ryan King of
Seymour, TN is seventh with 520 points, and Daniel Bridgeman of
Meridian, MS is eighth with 505 points.
Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS holds down the
ninth spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings
with 494 points, and Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS rounds out the
Top 10 with 478 points. After
the first 11 weeks of competition, a total of 344 drivers have earned
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points.
Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly
Racing Series compete against each other using a points system that
counts their best 14 week point totals, plus up to 100 bonus points,
over the 27-week season. They
are competing for a $20,000 point fund that pays back ten spots at the
end of the season. The
2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Champion will earn a
$10,000 top prize.
The dirt late model race cars in the
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical
Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the
factory to prevent any expensive modifications.
There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower
aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine
that gets a 100-pound weight break.
